From the Washington Post 1982 CORRECTIONS

Having read the 1982 review of the beloved and notorious Chinese Disco found at
https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/local/1982/01/07/preppies-find-bliss-in-sh-a-a-ag-city/876415cd-73cb-4106-8dab-4e74c737ee29/?tid=ss_mail&utm_term=.061df7b53ef3
I am posting here some corrections on the history of the Chinese Disco.

The Chinese Disco was founded at the Day Lily Restaurant in late February or early March of 1977, not December of 1976.

The original DJs were Peter Van Allen and Nicky Williams. Buff McDonald was back up until Peter Van Allen quit.

Up until 1980, when I left DC, it was always referred to as the "Chinese Disco" or just the "Disco" by the regular patrons at the time. "ChiDi" may have been a reference created by the high school kids who would come in from the burbs and tried to crash in. It is believed that Lucy Channing gave the name "Chinese Disco" in 1977.

In the beginning there was no cover.

"You're More Than a Number in My Little Red Book" by the Drifters came out in 1976 not in the 1950s
